We recd an email from my older sis last night. She, along with my mom, were in New Zealand making their way back to the states. On the flight from Nuku'alofa to Aukland, they were on the same flight with a couple of missionaries on their way to the MTC. Both of them spoke not a lick of English. One was called to serve in the Philippines and the other in Alaska. My sister mentioned how sad they were "unprepared" cause one of the elders had shoes with no laces, white socks that obviously didnt fit, no coat to take to Alaska. YET very humble and excited to serve the lord. One even cried when they arrived in NZ because it was their first time out of Tonga.
It hit my father close to home because the missionaries were from Eua, an island off of Tongatapu where my father once lived as a child. And it is there where he first went to church and later got baptized. The first half of his childhood, he grew up Siasi Tonga until they moved to Eua and started attending the LDS church thank goodness to their neighbors.
So lately when thinking about missionaries, we always think about "WHAT IF THAT WAS T.Y.!" (my lil brother and baby of the family currently serving in Chicago, IL) So my mom kinda took them under her wing and "adopted" them! LOL! She took all these pictures of them, fed them in NZ, and they exchanged addresses. My mom told them to write her when they get to the MTC to she can send them stuff they will need for their mission. I also believe she's going to get my Auntie Vai who lives in Orem to go by there and check up on the too. I guess I now got 3 brothers on a mission (cheesy! hahaha)
GOD OUR STRENGTH WILL BE, PRESS FORWARD EVER CALL TO SERVE OUR KING!!!!
